Global Council For Tolerance And Peace Participates In International Parliamentary Conference In Baku, Azerbaijan

Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Jarwan, President of the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace, participated in an International Parliamentary Conference in Baku. This event celebrated the 30th anniversary of Azerbaijan's Constitution. Over twenty delegations from national parliaments and international organisations attended the conference.

Al Jarwan praised Azerbaijan's constitution for its emphasis on justice, independence, tolerance, and human dignity. He described these principles as crucial to Azerbaijan's progress and unity. He congratulated President Ilham Aliyev, Dr. Sahiba Gafarova, Speaker of the Milli Majlis, and the Azerbaijani people on this important occasion.

Council for Tolerance Attends Conference in Baku

The Global Council for Tolerance and Peace collaborates with over 100 countries and parliaments worldwide. It also partners with around 60 academic institutions to promote tolerance and peace. Al Jarwan highlighted how these efforts align with Azerbaijan's dedication to intercultural dialogue and global peace.

During his speech, Al Jarwan acknowledged Azerbaijan's commitment to fostering intercultural dialogue and protecting human dignity. He also noted the country's contributions to regional and global peace initiatives.

The partnership between the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace and Azerbaijan's National Assembly was emphasised by Al Jarwan. This collaboration was formalised through a memorandum of understanding signed in 2024. It has strengthened parliamentary cooperation in promoting tolerance, empowering youth and women, and supporting interfaith dialogue.

On the sidelines of the conference, Al Jarwan visited significant memorials in Baku with his delegation. They laid a wreath at the Baku Memorial (Tomb of the Unknown Soldier) to honour national martyrs. The delegation also paid respects at Martyrs' Lane, recognising Azerbaijani sacrifices for freedom.

The conference underscored shared values between Azerbaijan and the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace. These include justice, independence, tolerance, and human dignity as foundations for development. The event highlighted ongoing efforts to enhance cooperation in promoting peace globally.
