Global Attention Turns To Abu Dhabi For IDEX And NAVDEX 2025 Showcasing Defence Innovations
The International Defence Exhibition (IDEX 2025) and the Naval Defence and Maritime Security Exhibition (NAVDEX 2025) will be held from 17 to 21 February 2025 at the ADNEC Centre in Abu Dhabi. This event, under the patronage of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, is set to be the largest in its history. It will feature the 17th edition of IDEX and the 8th edition of NAVDEX.
The exhibitions are organised by ADNEC Group with the Ministry of Defence and Tawazun Council. They aim to gather global companies, decision-makers, and experts to showcase advanced technologies for international peace and security. Major General Staff Pilot Faris Khalaf Al Mazrouei highlighted that this edition marks a significant milestone in IDEX's 32-year journey.

Al Mazrouei stated, "This edition of IDEX and NAVDEX marks a milestone in the 32-year journey of success, garnering unprecedented global attention, which underscores its growing influence in the defence and security sector." He credited President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan's leadership for establishing UAE as a hub in these fields.
Major General Staff Mubarak Saeed bin Gafan Al Jabri noted that since its inception in 1993, IDEX has become a landmark event enhancing UAE's position in the global defence sector. NAVDEX showcases advancements in maritime technologies. The International Defence Conference 2025 will host over 1,800 participants, marking a significant increase since its launch.
Al Jabri added that both exhibitions have seen growth in local and international participation. The organising committee has developed a plan with ADNEC Group and Tawazun Council to meet guest expectations while ensuring a seamless experience. Key topics like cybersecurity and space security will be addressed during discussions.
Exhibition Expansion
Humaid Matar Al Dhaheri, Managing Director and Group CEO of ADNEC Group, revealed that IDEX has grown significantly since its start in 1993. The 2025 edition will see participation from 1,565 companies across 65 countries, reflecting a growth of 16% compared to previous editions. Exhibition space has expanded by 10%.
Al Dhaheri mentioned that seven new countries are participating this year: Qatar, Ethiopia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Romania, and Cyprus. A new exhibition hall has been added with over 341 exhibiting companies. A dedicated platform for CBRNE threats is also introduced with participation from multiple countries.
Tawazun Council's Role
Mona Ahmed Al Jaber from Tawazun Council stated their role as "Principal Partner" reflects their commitment to advancing UAE’s defence ecosystem. Their pavilion will highlight key initiatives supporting national industries. She noted that IDEX serves as an international platform for exploring technological advancements.
Al Jaber emphasised Tawazun Council’s collaboration with the Ministry of Defence to develop an innovative defence industry base. This year's exhibition continues to bring together global leaders showcasing innovations while fostering integration with strategic partners across sectors.
The current edition is expected to announce numerous deals and strategic partnerships enhancing its competitiveness globally. It remains a prominent platform bringing together industry leaders worldwide shaping future defence solutions across continents.
