Competitors From 25 Nations Tackle Scientific Tests At International AI Olympiad In Riyadh
The International AI Olympiad (IAIO) is currently underway in Riyadh, organised by the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA). Today, competitors underwent five-hour individual scientific tests. Tomorrow's agenda includes a practical experiment on using the ZINDI platform.
Participants from over 25 countries are taking part in this event, which is held under the patronage of UNESCO. Each country has sent a team of up to four students. These participants received training in their home countries, including ten virtual lectures and a workshop on the ZINDI platform.

The IAIO aims to bring together talented individuals to enhance their skills and abilities. It also seeks to spread the culture of smart Olympiads among current generations and provide opportunities for young people to gain experience from experts and mentors.
The practical tests for participants will be held on Wednesday. Following these tests, winners will be announced, and an award ceremony will take place where individuals will be honoured with prizes and medals.
This event coincides with the launch of the third annual Global AI Summit (GAIN Summit), scheduled for September 10-12 at the King Abdulaziz International Convention Center in Riyadh. The IAIO serves as an international platform for competitions in AI, aiming to educate participants about the latest uses and developments in this vital field.
The IAIO is part of a broader framework involving collaboration with the International Center for Artificial Intelligence Research and Ethics (ICAIRE) and Slovenia’s International Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (IRCAI). This collaboration aims to foster international cooperation in AI research and ethics.
By participating in this event, students are encouraged to engage more deeply in the field of AI. The training they received included both theoretical knowledge and practical skills essential for their future careers.
The IAIO not only focuses on competition but also on education. It aims to inform participants about recent advancements in AI that significantly impact individual lives and societies globally.
This initiative highlights Saudi Arabia's commitment to advancing AI technology and fostering international collaboration in this rapidly evolving field. The event provides a unique opportunity for young talents to showcase their abilities on a global stage.
