GGLP Showcases UAE's Best Practices In Economy, Tourism, And Youth Empowerment For Global Leaders

Participants in the second Global Government Leaders Programme (GGLP) explored the UAE's exemplary practices in sectors like economy, tourism, trade, and youth empowerment. They engaged with officials such as Mohammad Lootah from Dubai Chambers and Issam Kazim from Dubai Corporation for Tourism and Commerce Marketing. The programme aims to enhance leadership skills through innovative policy development and international cooperation.

Mohammad Lootah emphasised Dubai Chambers' role in diversifying the economy and fostering global partnerships. He explained the restructuring into three entities: Dubai Chamber of Commerce, Dubai International Chamber, and Dubai Chamber of Digital Economy. "The Dubai International Chamber, with its 31 global representative offices, facilitates international trade and attracts investments," he stated.

GGLP Highlights UAE Best Practices for Leaders

Lootah highlighted the success of the Expand NorthStar exhibition, which connects startups with venture capital. This event has attracted 1,800 startups and around 1,200 investors globally. Additionally, he introduced the Dubai Chambers Family Business Centre, focusing on governance and developing future leaders in family businesses.

Issam Kazim discussed Dubai's rapid tourism growth under His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum's vision. "Development is an ongoing process," said Sheikh Mohammed. Kazim noted that strategic objectives in the Dubai Economic Agenda D33 have driven this transformation. Investments in iconic projects have reinforced Dubai's status as a premier destination.

Kazim highlighted targeted marketing campaigns and technological advancements enhancing visitor experiences. These efforts have resulted in growth across various tourism indicators. The goal is to position Dubai as a top city for living and working while attracting international visitors and investments.

DP World's Global Expansion

Mohammed Al Muallem from DP World credited UAE leadership for expanding their business portfolio globally. DP World has evolved from port operations to offering comprehensive supply chain solutions across over 80 countries. "DP World's investments in infrastructure, technology, and people have enabled it to become a strategic partner globally," he said.

Al Muallem also focused on advanced technologies like AI and robotics to enhance operational efficiency. Simplifying customs procedures further boosts their global competitiveness.

Emaar's Success Story

Mohamed Alabbar attributed Emaar's success to UAE's supportive policies and dynamic environment. Noon was established to support the UAE economy against global giants. He stressed adapting to global changes by investing in infrastructure and human capital.

Alabbar highlighted Emaar's resilience during the 2008 financial crisis while building projects like Burj Khalifa due to strong leadership. He urged governments to develop clear urban planning visions using technology for competitiveness.

Youth Empowerment Initiatives

Khaled Al Nuaimi emphasised youth as essential for national development. The government supports youth through objectives like instilling Emirati values and maximising participation in forums. Initiatives include mentorship programs with leaders, career guidance via 'Jahiz', and youth hubs fostering collaboration.

The National Youth Agenda 2031 focuses on economic empowerment, global leadership, national identity, and future skills development. Key goals include doubling youth-led projects in promising sectors.

DIFC's Financial Growth

Mohammad AlBlooshi highlighted DIFC's evolution into a key player in global financial services. Hosting 27 of the world's 29 systemically important banks showcases its business-friendly environment. DIFC has expanded beyond traditional finance into fintech through initiatives like accelerator programs.

These efforts fostered a thriving ecosystem of over 1,000 startups contributing significantly to economic growth exemplified by unicorn company Tabby’s success.

The GGLP empowers government leaders from 31 countries by enhancing their management skills through field visits introducing project management approaches they can apply back home for improved performance.
