GEOSA And RIPC Collaborate To Enhance Geospatial Data Utilisation In Infrastructure Projects
The General Authority for Survey and Geospatial Information (GEOSA) has entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Riyadh Infrastructure Projects Center (RIPC). This collaboration aims to enhance the role of geospatial data in planning and executing infrastructure projects. The signing occurred on the first day of the Saudi Infrastructure Summit, which is under the patronage of Prince Dr. Faisal bin Abdulaziz bin Ayyaf, Mayor of Riyadh Region.
GEOSA's Vice President Eng. Ahmad Alwasaidi and RIPC's CEO Eng. Fahad bin Suleiman Al-Badah signed the MoU. The agreement focuses on using reliable geospatial information for infrastructure planning in the Riyadh Region. It includes adopting official maps, geospatial data, and baseline maps from GEOSA as certified sources.

The MoU aims to support RIPC with geospatial data, services, technologies, and consulting. It also seeks to promote integration among government entities and advance the maturity of the geospatial sector. This collaboration will utilize the Saudi Arabia National Spatial Reference System (SANSRS) for all surveying activities.
Additionally, the agreement emphasizes leveraging national geodetic infrastructure products and services. It highlights using artificial intelligence in geospatial applications and encourages joint research activities. Training and developing national capabilities in shared areas of interest are also key components.
As the Summit Platinum Sponsor, GEOSA regulates the surveying and geospatial information sector in Saudi Arabia. Meanwhile, RIPC is dedicated to improving efficiency in planning and executing infrastructure projects within the Riyadh Region.
The summit runs from September 24 to 26, providing a platform for discussing advancements in infrastructure development. The partnership between GEOSA and RIPC is expected to significantly contribute to these discussions by showcasing how geospatial data can enhance project outcomes.
This strategic partnership underscores a commitment to integrating advanced technologies into infrastructure planning processes. By doing so, it aims to ensure that projects are executed with precision and efficiency across Riyadh.
