GEOSA Recognised With 2025 Esri President’s Award For Geospatial Technology Advancements

The General Authority for Survey and Geospatial Information (GEOSA) has been honoured with the 2025 Environmental Systems Research Institute (Esri) President’s Award. This annual accolade acknowledges agencies and organisations that excel in adopting geospatial technologies and smart solutions. The award was announced at the Esri User Conference, held from July 14 to 18 in San Diego, USA.

GEOSA's achievement is attributed to its development of the Saudi Geo-Hub. This platform centralises geospatial data and tools, aiding smart decision-making in comprehensive development. By integrating, analysing, and visualising geospatial information through dashboards, interactive charts, graphs, and infographics, it provides accurate data for decision-makers in key sectors.

GEOSA Wins Esri President’s Award 2025

Remarkably, GEOSA is the first non-US organisation to receive this prestigious award. In 2024, the US Agency for International Development was the recipient. Over the past decade, several US agencies have been recognised for their contributions in this field.

The Esri User Conference serves as a gathering point for thought leaders, decision-makers, experts, and professionals worldwide in geospatial information. It also sees participation from various international organisations alongside government bodies, private sector entities, academic institutions, and non-profits.

This recognition aligns with Saudi Arabia's pioneering efforts to build and develop national geospatial infrastructure. It underscores the unwavering support from Saudi leadership towards advancing surveying, geospatial information, and imaging sectors.

Such commitment has positioned Saudi Arabia prominently among its peers globally in the geospatial field. The Kingdom plays a leading role in relevant international committees and organisations due to these efforts.

GEOSA's Role and Responsibilities

In line with its mandate, GEOSA regulates and develops the surveying sector within Saudi Arabia. It supervises and monitors geospatial information and imaging activities to ensure quality while enhancing performance across these domains.

The award highlights GEOSA's significant contribution to advancing geospatial technology use within development applications. This achievement reflects both national progress and international recognition of Saudi Arabia's capabilities in this vital sector.
