Georgetown University Awards Honorary Doctorate To Mohammad Al Gergawi
In a significant milestone for global business education, Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business celebrated the commencement of its Class of 2024 at Healy Lawn in Washington, D.C. The event featured a keynote address by Mohammad bin Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs, who was honoured with a Doctor of Humane Letters, Honoris Causa.
Georgetown University President John J. DeGioia conferred the honorary degree on Al Gergawi. The citation highlighted Al Gergawi's career in public service, noting his investments in education and innovation in human development. His efforts have elevated both his nation and the wider world, advancing his country’s growth while seeking the common good.

The ceremony marked the graduation of nearly 900 students who completed their graduate business programmes. These graduates now join Georgetown University’s prestigious global alumni network, which includes more than 220,000 members worldwide.
In September 2023, Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business launched its Executive Master of Business Administration programme (Executive MBA) in the UAE at the Dubai International Financial Center Academy. The programme has garnered widespread interest and admitted 54 students.
The Executive MBA programme aims to equip students to lead with innovation and foresight. It offers elective courses covering topics prioritised by the UAE for economic growth, including sustainability and AI development. The first cohort of UAE students is set to graduate in 2025 after completing the 20-month programme.
