General Court Of Audit Wins Future Award For Innovative Auditing Practices From INTOSAI

Dr. Hussam Alangari, President of the General Court of Audit (GCA), has been honoured with the "Future Award" by the International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI). This accolade acknowledges GCA's significant advancements in auditing practices and its influential role in shaping global financial and performance auditing. The award aligns with Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030 goals, highlighting the Kingdom's international contributions.

The announcement was made during INTOSAI's General Assembly in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt. The Future Award is a prestigious recognition given every three years to a Supreme Audit Institution (SAI) that demonstrates innovation and leadership within the INTOSAI community. A panel of jurors meticulously evaluates nominations from SAIs worldwide, assessing their achievements and contributions to the auditing profession.

GCA Wins Future Award from INTOSAI

GCA's recognition stems from its comprehensive transformation of auditing practices in Saudi Arabia. It has played a pivotal role internationally through leadership positions that influence the future of the profession. The nomination highlighted GCA's digital auditing transformation via the Shamel Platform, an initiative acknowledged globally as a model for thorough auditing practices.

Moreover, GCA has pioneered innovations in auditing methodologies aligned with INTOSAI Standards (ISSAIs) and International Auditing and Assurance Standards Board (IAASB) standards. These efforts have significantly enhanced audit quality and impact. GCA also focuses on developing professional human capital by launching digital platforms and training programs to equip auditors across the Arab region with advanced skills.

The award was initially known as the "Jörg Kandutsch Award," established in 1981 to honour Dr. Jörg Kandutsch, a prominent figure in INTOSAI's history. It has been regularly awarded to institutions making notable contributions to the INTOSAI community. GCA first received this award in 1989, while the U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) was its last recipient in 2022.

The award has since been updated and renamed to emphasize contributions towards shaping the future of auditing and fostering innovation within the profession. This evolution reflects INTOSAI's commitment to recognising institutions that drive progress in auditing practices globally.

GCA's achievements underscore its dedication to advancing auditing standards both locally and internationally. By embracing digital transformation and enhancing auditor skills, GCA continues to lead innovations that benefit the broader INTOSAI community.
