General Court Of Audit And Auditor General Of Pakistan Sign MoU To Enhance Auditing Cooperation
The General Court of Audit (GCA) President, Dr. Hussam Alangari, and Pakistan's Auditor General, Muhammad Ajmal Gondal, have formalised a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in Islamabad. This agreement aims to foster cooperation in accounting, auditing, and professional activities between the two countries. The MoU is part of a broader initiative by the GCA to establish partnerships with similar institutions globally.
Dr. Alangari highlighted that this MoU is among several agreements the GCA has signed with peer institutions in friendly nations. These agreements underscore the GCA's esteemed professional standing both regionally and internationally. They also reflect its commitment to sharing expertise with other supreme audit institutions worldwide.

The primary goal of this collaboration is to enhance financial and compliance auditing and performance monitoring between the GCA and Pakistan's Auditor General's Office. This will be achieved through research projects, consultancy work, and organising meetings, conferences, and training sessions on shared interests.
Implementation of the MoU will involve direct coordination between the two entities. This includes joint meetings, training courses, and forming committees to develop work mechanisms and timelines for implementation. Such structured cooperation aims to maximise the benefits derived from this partnership.
The collaboration will operate within frameworks provided by the International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI) and the Asian Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (ASOSAI). These frameworks ensure that both parties adhere to international standards in their cooperative efforts.
During the signing ceremony, Dr. Alangari presented a peer review report to Muhammad Ajmal Gondal. This report detailed audit work conducted by the GCA within Pakistan's Auditor General's Office, highlighting their commitment to transparency and mutual benefit from this agreement.
Saudi Ambassador to Pakistan Nawaf Al-Malki was present at the signing event, underscoring the significance of this bilateral cooperation. The involvement of high-level officials indicates strong support for enhancing professional ties between Saudi Arabia and Pakistan through this MoU.
