GCF Annual Meeting 2024 In Riyadh Focuses On Global Cybersecurity Collaboration And Child Protection

The fourth Global Cybersecurity Forum (GCF) Annual Meeting commenced in Riyadh, under the patronage of King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud. This event gathers prominent figures such as former prime ministers, government ministers, and CEOs from over 125 countries. The aim is to foster collaboration on cyberspace issues. The GCF Annual Meeting 2024 coincides with the Child Protection in Cyberspace (CPC) Global Summit.

His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud welcomed attendees on behalf of King Salman. He stated: "The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has always been a force for good for the benefit of humanity and human prosperity around the world. It has continuously worked to uphold the principle of cooperation, and strengthen international collaboration towards efforts that support development and prosperity for all nations. It has initiated several initiatives aimed at achieving these genuine goals in all sectors."

GCF Annual Meeting 2024 Highlights Cybersecurity Efforts

Prince Mohammed emphasised cyberspace's role in economic growth, societal prosperity, individual security, and national stability. He noted the importance of international cooperation to harness opportunities and tackle challenges by investing in people. In 2020, two global initiatives were launched: one for child protection in cyberspace and another empowering women in cybersecurity.

The Institute for the Global Cybersecurity Forum oversees these initiatives and their projects. The progress includes a deeper understanding of global needs, leading to new visions that have allowed GCF to create impactful programs, publish research, and develop strategies. These efforts help decision-makers worldwide formulate policies enhancing child protection online and women's participation in cybersecurity.

Building on these achievements, Prince Mohammed announced the launch of the Child Protection in Cyberspace Global Summit hosted by Saudi Arabia. This summit aims to unify international efforts and improve responses to threats facing children online. His Highness expressed hope for success among participants in shaping a secure cyberspace fostering global growth.

This year's GCF Annual Meeting theme is ‘Advancing Collective Action in Cyberspace.’ It includes panel discussions featuring decision-makers, senior officials, and experts from various sectors. They will explore five main themes: Beyond Cyber Discord, Cyber Psychology, Cyber Social Fabric, Thriving Cyber Economy, and New Cyber Frontier.
