GCC Secretary-General Welcomes Yemen's Foreign Minister To Discuss Regional Stability

Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), welcomed Dr. Shaya Al Zindani, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriate Affairs of Yemen, at the General Secretariat's headquarters in Riyadh. Albudaiwi congratulated Dr. Al Zindani on his new role and wished him success in his duties.

During the meeting, the significance of the upcoming joint ministerial meeting between GCC foreign ministers and Yemen, scheduled to be held in Doha, was highlighted. This meeting aims to advance security and stability for the Yemeni people. Albudaiwi underscored the importance of the Supreme Council's statement during its 44th session in December 2023 in Doha.

GCC, Yemen Discuss Stability

The statement from the Supreme Council expressed full support for the Presidential Leadership Council, led by Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al Alimi, and other entities working towards achieving security and stability in Yemen. The latest developments in Yemen were also reviewed, including the impact of Houthi operations in the Red Sea on regional and global economic conditions.

Albudaiwi reiterated the GCC's support for international efforts aimed at resolving the Yemeni crisis through a comprehensive political solution. This solution is based on three terms of reference: the Gulf Initiative and its implementation mechanism, outcomes of the National Dialogue Conference, and Security Council Resolution 2216.

The meeting concluded with a renewed commitment to supporting all efforts to achieve security and stability in Yemen.
