GCC's Unwavering Support For Palestinian Rights Highlighted By Secretary General

The Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Jassem Mohamed Albudaiwi, affirmed the unwavering support of GCC member states for Palestinians in their quest for legitimate rights. This declaration was made during his address at the Fifth Plenary Meeting of the Fourth Term of the Third Legislative Session of the Arab Parliament (AP) held at the Arab League's headquarters in Cairo.

Albudaiwi highlighted that this meeting occurs amid significant challenges facing the Arab nation, with Palestine's cause remaining a primary concern. He emphasised that the GCC has consistently maintained clear and steadfast positions on this issue since its inception. The ongoing suffering of Palestinians due to Israeli occupation forces' actions in Gaza and other territories is a profound wound for Arabs and Muslims.

GCC Backs Palestinian Rights

He noted that these violations by Israeli forces are not only breaches of human rights and international laws but also an affront to human values and principles. Albudaiwi condemned the use of excessive force against civilians, which exacerbates regional instability. He stressed that such actions demand urgent international intervention to halt violence and ensure peace.

The GCC has persistently urged the global community to implement effective measures for an immediate cease-fire, reduce violence against Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank, including Al-Quds, and halt settlement activities. The call includes supporting Palestinians' right to self-determination and establishing an independent state within 1967 borders with East Al-Quds as its capital, aligning with the Arab Peace Initiative and relevant international resolutions.

Albudaiwi praised the efforts of the Arab Parliament in fostering Arab cooperation and collective action towards a sustainable future. He stated that unity among Arab states is crucial for achieving security, stability, and prosperity for their peoples. The collaboration between GCC General Secretariat, AP, and other Arab institutions is rooted in this belief.

He reiterated that Palestine's just cause remains central to Arab priorities. The ongoing crimes by Israeli forces are seen as a direct challenge to all human values. The GCC's consistent stance reflects its commitment to supporting Palestinian rights amidst these adversities.

Albudaiwi concluded by stressing that addressing these issues requires cohesive efforts from all Arab nations. He called for continued solidarity to overcome challenges and achieve a prosperous future for all Arabs.
