GCC Secretary-General Praises US President's Initiative To Resolve Gaza Crisis

Jasem Albudaiwi, Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), expressed approval for US President Donald Trump's plan to resolve the conflict in the Gaza Strip. He highlighted that international efforts to end the crisis and address the humanitarian disaster in Gaza deserve commendation and active participation.

Albudaiwi stressed that a ceasefire and swift removal of aid delivery restrictions are crucial. Preventing displacement and ensuring protection for Gaza's residents should be central to any responsible global action. He noted that successful initiatives rely on serious implementation, safeguarding civilians, and creating conditions for stability.

GCC Welcomes US Plan for Gaza Resolution

The GCC Secretary-General stated that the council views these proposed measures positively. They could help establish a fair path ensuring Palestinians' rights, including forming an independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital. This aligns with the council's vision for a just resolution.

Albudaiwi reiterated the GCC's willingness to collaborate with regional and international partners. The aim is to support efforts that resolve the Gaza crisis while safeguarding Palestinian rights through a two-state solution, enhancing security and stability in the region.

"The success of any initiative depends on the seriousness of its implementation and on ensuring the protection of civilians, as well as providing suitable conditions for stability," Albudaiwi stated. This underscores his belief in effective execution and civilian safety as key factors.

The GCC is committed to engaging with global partners to end the Gaza crisis. Albudaiwi emphasised that preserving Palestinian rights is essential for achieving long-term peace and security in the Middle East.
