GCC Secretary General Lauds Arab Media Forum As Key Platform For Media Excellence

The Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, underscored the significance of the Arab Media Forum as a crucial regional and international platform within the media industry. He emphasized its role in staying abreast of the latest media developments and serving as a venue to honour pioneers and icons.

Albudaiwi highlighted the shared responsibility of addressing the challenges posed by modern media and dealing with its impact. He stressed the importance of learning from each other's experiences in this field. These remarks were delivered during the GCC Secretary General's participation in the 22nd session of the Arab Media Forum, held on May 28-29, 2024, in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Arab Media Forum Praised by GCC Chief

The event was held under the patronage of Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. Albudaiwi stated, "The Arab Media Forum has become a beacon of thought and creativity in the Arab media, reflecting the UAE's commitment to strengthening dialogue and exchanging ideas about the future of media in our region."

He emphasized that the event brings together influential figures in the media industry to support its growth and prosperity and to promote constructive dialogue for the advancement of nations and the development of minds. The GCC believes in the importance of diversity, dialogue, and building relations based on peace and harmony.

Albudaiwi pointed out that the Gulf countries have become a meeting place for continents and civilizations and a driving force for global initiatives and peace, hosting pivotal international events and conferences in various fields.

Albudaiwi also highlighted the influential role of Gulf media in the GCC's journey and achievements, thanks to the support of GCC leaders for media as a fundamental pillar in ambitious future visions. This support includes freedom of dialogue, exchange of views, promotion of constructive criticism, empowerment of youth, and leadership opportunities for women in media institutions.

Regulations and Legislation

In conclusion, Albudaiwi emphasized that the GCC has established regulations and legislation regarding media content, the use of artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity in the media field to address future challenges. He stressed the importance of media as a positive influence in shaping the future of societies.
