GCC Secretary-General Confirms 165th Ministerial Council Meeting And GCC-Japan Joint Meeting In Kuwait
The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) is set to hold its 165th Ministerial Council meeting in Kuwait City on Monday. Jasem Albudaiwi, the Secretary-General of the GCC, announced that the meeting will be led by Abdullah Ali Abdullah Al Yahya, Kuwait's Minister of Foreign Affairs and current Chairman of the Ministerial Council. The gathering will include foreign ministers from GCC member states.
During this session, the council will review reports on implementing decisions from the 45th Summit held in December 2024 in Kuwait City. The agenda includes examining memorandums and reports from ministerial and technical committees and the General Secretariat. Discussions will also cover strategic dialogues and relations between the GCC and other countries and global blocs.

The meeting aims to address recent regional and international developments. These discussions are crucial for maintaining stability and security in the region. The council's focus remains on fostering cooperation with various global entities.
Following the GCC Ministerial Council meeting, a second joint ministerial meeting between the GCC and Japan will take place. This session will be chaired by Japan's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Iwaya Takeshi. The Gulf-Japanese meeting is part of ongoing efforts to enhance relations with countries worldwide.
The discussions with Japan will centre around a joint action plan aimed at fostering collaboration between both sides. There will be continued consultation and coordination on regional and international issues of mutual interest. This dialogue seeks to bolster security and stability across regions.
Albudaiwi emphasised that these meetings are vital for strengthening ties with international partners. "The meeting will cover the discussion of several topics, most importantly the joint action plan between the two sides, in addition to continued consultation and coordination," he stated.
