GCC Ministerial Council Strongly Condemns Iranian Missile Attacks Targeting Qatar's Military Base
The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Ministerial Council has strongly criticised Iran's missile attacks on a military base in Qatar. The Council labelled these actions as a severe violation of Qatar's sovereignty and international law, emphasising that such acts are unacceptable under any circumstances. The meeting, held in Doha, saw GCC foreign ministers express their full support for Qatar's measures to protect its security.
The Council praised Qatar's armed forces for their response to the Iranian attack, highlighting that the security of Qatar is vital for the entire GCC region. It reiterated that any threat to one member state is a threat to all and firmly opposed any attempts to undermine Qatar's stability or sovereignty.

In light of recent events, the Council stressed the importance of adhering to the United Nations Charter and international law. It called for respect for state sovereignty, non-interference in internal affairs, peaceful dispute resolution, and rejection of force or threats. The Council welcomed US President Donald Trump's ceasefire announcement and urged an immediate stop to military actions.
The GCC Ministerial Council commended Qatar's mediation efforts in securing the ceasefire and maintaining regional stability. It encouraged all parties to seize this opportunity for de-escalation and adopt diplomacy as a means to resolve conflicts. The Council highlighted the need for restraint to avoid war consequences and promote serious negotiations for sustainable solutions.
The ongoing Israeli aggression against Gaza was condemned by the Council, which criticised the killing of civilians and military escalations by occupying forces. It rejected Israel's expansion into Gaza and obstruction of humanitarian aid delivery. The Council stressed resuming negotiations for a ceasefire and ensuring aid reaches civilians.
The GCC Joint Security Vision, announced in March 2024, was highlighted as prioritising dialogue and diplomacy to address crises and maintain regional peace. The Council warned that escalation could destabilise regional security with catastrophic global consequences.
Efforts Towards Peaceful Resolutions
The Ministerial Council acknowledged Oman's role in facilitating US-Iranian nuclear negotiations and appreciated contributions from Qatar, the US, and other nations in promoting de-escalation. It emphasised continuing effective mediation efforts as crucial for peace.
Security in airspace, seas, and waterways remains a priority for the GCC states. The Council stressed confronting threats to regional stability, including attacks on commercial vessels and energy infrastructure. It reaffirmed commitment to supporting global energy market stability.
The GCC Ministerial Council remains committed to supporting efforts towards lasting peace in the region while ensuring security measures are upheld across member states.
