GCC Foreign Ministers Reaffirm Support For Saudi Initiative On Two-State Solution
The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) foreign ministers convened in New York City for a coordination meeting. This gathering occurred alongside the High-Level International Conference on the Peaceful Settlement of the Question of Palestine and the Implementation of the Two-State Solution. GCC Secretary-General Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi highlighted that this meeting reinforced support for Saudi Arabia's initiative to create a global alliance dedicated to implementing the two-state solution.
During their discussions, the ministers focused on several critical issues. They addressed recent developments in Palestinian territories and Gaza, as well as coordination on topics raised at the conference. The humanitarian crisis in Gaza was also a significant point of concern. The ministers emphasized the dire situation caused by severe shortages of humanitarian aid due to Israeli blockades and tactics that contravene international law.

Albudaiwi noted that the GCC ministers called for sustained pressure on Israel to open all crossings. This action is essential to ensure humanitarian aid reaches Palestinians without hindrance. The blockade has led to unprecedented conditions, with starvation tactics being employed against Gaza's population, violating both international and humanitarian laws.
The meeting underscored the importance of intensifying regional and international efforts. Collaboration with countries, organizations, and institutions worldwide is crucial to lifting the blockade on Palestinians. Ensuring unrestricted entry of humanitarian and relief aid remains a top priority for the GCC ministers.
The GCC foreign ministers also discussed joint efforts aimed at resolving the Palestinian issue. Achieving international recognition of Palestine as a state was a key focus area during their deliberations. The tragic situation in Gaza further highlighted the need for coordinated actions among nations.
Albudaiwi reiterated that these discussions are part of broader efforts to address ongoing challenges in Palestinian territories. The GCC remains committed to supporting initiatives that promote peace and stability in the region through diplomatic means.
This meeting reflects continued dedication by GCC members to address pressing issues affecting Palestinians. By fostering cooperation with global partners, they aim to alleviate suffering and work towards lasting solutions for peace.
