GCC Secretary General Highlights Human Rights Declaration Based On Islamic Sharia Principles And Achievements
The Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, highlighted the significant progress made by GCC countries in human rights over the past 40 years. He attributed these achievements to divine grace and the wise guidance of GCC leaders. This statement was made during the celebration of the tenth anniversary of the GCC Human Rights Declaration, which coincides with International Human Rights Day on December 10.
Albudaiwi emphasized that the GCC Human Rights Declaration is based on Islamic Sharia principles, the GCC's founding charter, and various international agreements. "This represents a significant qualitative step in respecting, protecting, and promoting human rights," he stated. The declaration reflects a commitment to human dignity and upholding rights guaranteed by Islamic Sharia, rooted in societal values and policies.

The declaration reaffirms legislative and institutional advancements in human rights within GCC states. It ensures progress across civil, political, economic, social, and cultural rights while aligning with citizens' aspirations for a sustainable future.
