GCC Group At UN Condemns Israeli Attacks On Iran And Its Nuclear Facilities

The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Group at the United Nations has expressed strong disapproval of Israeli actions against Iran and its nuclear sites. They warned that these attacks could severely impact regional security and stability. The GCC Group views these actions as a breach of international law and the UN Charter.

During an emergency UN Security Council session, Deputy Permanent Representative of Kuwait to the United Nations, Minister Plenipotentiary Faisal Al-Enezi, delivered a speech on behalf of the GCC Group. The session focused on the escalating tensions between Israel and Iran, according to the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA).

GCC Group Condemns Israeli Attacks on Iran

The GCC Group reaffirmed its commitment to addressing the serious events unfolding in the region. They highlighted ongoing diplomatic efforts by Gulf Cooperation Council countries aimed at reducing tensions. The group emphasised prioritising diplomacy and dialogue over conflict.

In light of the delicate situation, the GCC urged all parties to exercise maximum restraint and immediately cease hostilities. They stressed that wisdom and vigilance are crucial in navigating these sensitive circumstances.

The GCC Group advocated for avoiding further risks and preventing conflict escalation. They called for a return to dialogue and negotiations, considering it the most effective way to resolve the current crisis. This approach is seen as essential for ensuring long-term regional and international security.

The Group also underscored the importance of respecting state sovereignty and adhering to fundamental principles outlined in the United Nations Charter and international law. They urged refraining from using or threatening force.

International Community's Role

The GCC Group stressed that both the Security Council and the international community must take responsibility for halting this conflict immediately. They highlighted the need to prevent further escalation while encouraging continued US-Iranian negotiations on Iran's nuclear issue, with Oman acting as a mediator.
