During his speech, Albudaiwi stressed the importance of border security as a key element in safeguarding national and regional safety. He explained that its significance goes beyond maintaining state sovereignty, as it also tackles cross-border threats such as arms smuggling, human trafficking, drug trafficking, and terrorism financing. The GCC countries have been proactive in enhancing border security by adopting advanced technologies and boosting cooperation among member states.
Albudaiwi acknowledged the GCC's substantial efforts to combat terrorism in all forms amid rising regional challenges. He pointed out that through sharing security information, developing national laws against terrorism financing, and implementing anti-extremism programs, GCC nations have curtailed extremist ideologies' spread and countered threats to their security.
The secretary-general elaborated on how GCC countries have established a unified security system through joint agreements aimed at improving collaboration in border protection. These agreements have proven effective due to continuous coordination among member states for monitoring land, sea, and air borders.
Albudaiwi emphasized the extensive measures taken by GCC nations to ensure border security and fight terrorism. These efforts rely on comprehensive strategies involving security cooperation, intelligence sharing, infrastructure development, and training specialized personnel.
