GCA President Dr. Hussam Alangari Welcomes European Court Of Auditors President Tony Murphy In Riyadh
Dr. Hussam Alangari, President of the General Court of Audit (GCA), welcomed Tony Murphy, President of the European Court of Auditors, and his delegation in Riyadh. Their discussions focused on enhancing cooperation and sharing expertise in various fields. The meeting highlighted the importance of collaboration between the two institutions.
The delegation learned about GCA's digital transformation, particularly the automation of audit operations via the Shamel platform. They also explored GCA's auditing practices for government financial statements and initiatives to boost human capital and professional efficiency. These efforts aim to modernise auditing processes and improve overall performance.

Dr. Alangari stressed that this visit is crucial for strengthening ties with the European Court of Auditors. He highlighted the exchange of expertise, performance enhancement, and human resource development as key areas of focus. Both institutions are committed to these goals within the framework of INTOSAI, where they are active members.
Tony Murphy expressed his enthusiasm for visiting Saudi Arabia and his desire to deepen cooperation with GCA. He emphasised shared interests as a foundation for future collaboration between the two audit bodies. This mutual commitment aims to foster stronger ties and improve auditing standards.
The delegation concluded their visit by touring the Saudi Center for Financial and Performance Auditing (SCFPA). They were briefed on its role in building institutional capacity through training programs using advanced methodologies and digital technologies. These initiatives support GCA staff, audited entities' personnel, and counterparts from regional and international audit organisations.
Roles Within INTOSAI
Both institutions hold significant positions within INTOSAI's main committees. The GCA serves as Second Vice-President, chairs the Policy, Finance, and Administration Committee, and leads cooperation with donors. Meanwhile, the European Court of Auditors heads the Professional Standards Committee within INTOSAI.
This meeting underscored both parties' dedication to improving auditing practices globally through collaboration and knowledge sharing. By working together, they aim to enhance efficiency and effectiveness in their respective roles within INTOSAI.
