GASTAT Unveils Detailed Livestock Statistics Publication For 2023 In Saudi Arabia
The General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT) has published the 2023 Livestock Statistics Publication for Saudi Arabia. The report highlights that cow farms produced 2.8 billion litres of raw milk, with Riyadh leading in production at 1.6 billion litres, followed by the Eastern Region with 1 billion litres. The number of dairy cows in specialised agricultural farms reached 234,000.
In terms of poultry production, over 1.1 million tons of broiler chicken were produced across the Kingdom. Riyadh was at the forefront with 282,000 tons, followed by Makkah and Hail producing 185,000 and 171,000 tons respectively. Table egg production totalled 7.9 billion eggs, with Riyadh again leading at 3 billion eggs.

The Kingdom is home to approximately 22 million sheep, comprising 19.3% rams and 80.7% ewes. Additionally, there are about 2.2 million camels in Saudi Arabia; of these, 32% are younger than four years while the remaining 68% are older.
The publication provides insights into livestock statistics across both traditional and specialised holdings. It includes data on organic livestock as well as details on animal product exports and imports by quantity and value.
This comprehensive publication is based on data from various sources including a detailed agricultural survey conducted by GASTAT. It also utilises records from the Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture, the Agricultural Development Fund, the Zakat, Tax, and Customs Authority, and the Saudi Central Bank.
Furthermore, it offers information on livestock loans' value along with regional data across Saudi Arabia's administrative divisions.
The report serves as a crucial resource for understanding livestock dynamics within the Kingdom, providing valuable insights into production capacities and regional distributions.
