The World Defense Show (WDS) is set to return for its third edition in Riyadh from February 8 to 12, 2026. Under the patronage of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Minister of Defense Prince Khalid bin Salman bin Abdulaziz will inaugurate the event. This show aims to strengthen its status as a premier global defense exhibition.

GAMI Governor Ahmad Al-Ohali expressed gratitude for the royal support, highlighting its role in localizing 50% of military spending as part of Vision 2030. He stated: "The royal patronage is an extension of the leadership’s unwavering support to localizing 50% of military expenditure in line with the Kingdom’s Vision 2030. This commitment to innovation and cooperation exemplifies our dedication to fostering global partnerships, leveraging our strategic location, and harnessing the Kingdom’s industrial capabilities. Together, we are shaping the future of defense, ensuring stability and growth for our nation."

World Defense Show Scheduled for February 2026

The upcoming WDS will feature a significant expansion with a new exhibition hall, increasing space by 58% compared to its first edition. Designed to meet top international standards, this expansion aims to enhance collaboration and improve visitor experiences. The event will also focus on technology transfer and talent development within the defense sector.

Andrew Pearcey, CEO of WDS, emphasized the importance of government-industry collaboration for the 2026 edition. He said: "The 2026 edition will build on the collaboration between government and industry to create a unique environment where the global defense supply chain can meet, share ideas, and do business. Through expanded venue capacity, cutting-edge content, and a strong focus on technology transfer and talent development, WDS 2026 will serve as a global catalyst—bringing together leaders, innovators, and emerging talent to chart the path for the defense industry’s future."

The World Defense Show has seen remarkable growth since its inception. In 2024, it attracted participation from 773 exhibitors across 76 countries and hosted 441 official international delegations. The event facilitated deals worth SAR26 billion and welcomed 106,000 trade visitors. These achievements build upon the success of its inaugural edition in 2022.

The show receives comprehensive backing from various ministries and companies within Saudi Arabia's public and private sectors. This support underscores its role as a platform for showcasing visionary leadership in defense industries while promoting international cooperation.

As preparations continue for WDS 2026, anticipation grows around how it will further shape global defense discussions. The event promises to be a pivotal moment for industry leaders looking to explore new opportunities in technology and partnerships.
