GAMI GE Aerospace Agreement To Strengthen Saudi Aerospace MRO At World Defense Show 2026
The General Authority for Military Industries and GE Aerospace have agreed new steps to expand F110 engine repair inside Saudi Arabia, while also advancing maintenance, repair and overhaul skills using specialised equipment and training, as part of wider plans to build a stronger aerospace manufacturing base.
Alongside this Industrial Participation Agreement, the two sides also signed a memorandum of understanding that sets a framework to develop a globally competitive aerospace industrial base and speed up the Kingdom’s manufacturing roadmap, with particular focus on defence aviation programmes and support for Saudi suppliers.

Deputy Governor for the Localization Sector of GAMI Nawaf Albawardi said: "The MoU will contribute to strengthening GAMI’s ongoing efforts to localize and develop the military industries sector, aligning with Saudi Vision 2030 objectives to acquire the knowledge required in specialized processes and the international certifications necessary to develop engine parts manufacturing capabilities."
Albawardi explained that the understanding supports national defence requirements because GE Aerospace will share technology, expertise and knowledge with local organisations, helping them increase manufacturing activities, improve engine maintenance and repair performance, and handle more work inside Saudi Arabia and across neighbouring markets.
According to GAMI, the collaboration covers F110 engine repair capabilities but also wider MRO services, where advanced training and specialised tools will be introduced to raise technical standards, reduce dependence on external facilities and help meet long-term needs of Saudi Arabia’s aerospace ecosystem.
These localisation efforts are expected to generate high-value employment for Saudi nationals in engineering and technical roles, while also deepening domestic knowledge in precision manufacturing and complex sustainment tasks within the military industries sector as more activities move from overseas to local industrial partners.

GAMI and GE Aerospace agreement supporting national workforce
Vice President, Defense and Systems for GE Aerospace at the Middle East, Africa, and Türkiye Salim Mousallam stated, "Our relationship with GAMI demonstrates GE Aerospace’s commitment to localizing advanced strategic industries within the Kingdom and cultivating a highly qualified national workforce to advance Saudi Vision 2030 goals. This collaboration to share knowledge on engine manufacturing and sustainment goes beyond technology transfer. By supporting Saudi suppliers to develop capabilities in advanced MRO and manufacturing techniques and precision engineering, the agreement will accelerate Saudi Arabia’s industrial know-how and global competitiveness."
The Industrial Participation Agreement and MoU, signed during the World Defense Show 2026 in Riyadh, are presented by both parties as part of a long-term plan to build local capacity in aerospace manufacturing and sustainment, with clear links to Saudi Vision 2030 defence industrial targets.
