GameExpo Summit 2025 Connects Next-Gen Gaming Startups With Funding Opportunities

The GameExpo Summit 2025, a leading B2B gaming conference, took place at the Dubai World Trade Centre on 7th and 8th May. This event gathered global leaders, investors, and innovators in MENA's rapidly expanding gaming sector. Organised by Pocket Gamer Connects with the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism (DET), it is part of the fourth edition of the Dubai Esports and Games Festival (DEF) 2025.

Over 1,500 industry professionals from around the globe attended this annual conference. It served as a prime platform for businesses to connect with developers, publishers, distributors, tool providers, and investors worldwide. Attendees explored nine themed tracks focusing on new technologies like web3, AI, and metaverse. They also delved into trends in monetisation, user acquisition, retention, payments, webstores, games publishing, development, and more.

Funding Opportunities at GameExpo Summit 2025

The Investment Summit debuted on the main stage of GameExpo Summit. This programme ran on Day 1 afternoon and focused on current and emerging investment trends in gaming. Panels discussed benefits of investing in Dubai and spotting opportunities in emerging markets. Global trends shaping the sector were also highlighted during these sessions.

Ahmed Al Khaja, CEO of Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment (DFRE), stated: "The GameExpo Summit...has evolved into a critical platform for global industry professionals to engage with the most dynamic developments shaping the future of gaming." He emphasised its role in fostering innovation across AI, immersive technologies, monetisation models, and investment opportunities.

This year introduced PitchPlay as part of the Investment Summit. In partnership with DMCC, it offered game entrepreneurs a chance to secure investment from experts while competing for prizes worth AED 55,000. Prizes included a DMCC Gaming Centre Package valued at AED30,000 and a AED25,000 Steel Media promotional package.

The Very Big Indie Pitch competition returned as an event favourite. It celebrated new indie games across mobile, PC, and console platforms. Developers received real-time feedback from potential customers through speed-networking sessions to identify new market opportunities.

Networking Opportunities Abound

Connector SpeedMatch sessions provided rapid-fire meetings pairing game developers with publishers and investors. These carefully matched meetings aimed to identify suitable funding opportunities and partnerships within the industry.

The Big Indie Zone exclusive expo area invited indie developers to showcase their games to industry decision-makers. Meanwhile, Futura Advice Pitstop hosted one-on-one consultations with seasoned legal and tax experts offering valuable insights for attendees.

An esteemed line-up of over 70 speakers led strategic discussions alongside high-profile panellists from across the global gaming industry. These discussions provided attendees with insights into innovative developments shaping gaming's future landscape.

The GameExpo Summit 2025 successfully brought together key players in MENA's gaming economy. It offered numerous networking opportunities while exploring emerging trends that will shape this dynamic industry's future growth trajectory.
