GACA Reports On Airport And National Carrier Punctuality For May 2025

The General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) released its May 2025 report on the punctuality of airports and national carriers. This report evaluates flights departing or arriving within 15 minutes of their scheduled time. It aims to give travellers a clear view of schedule adherence and support efforts to improve service quality and passenger experience.

King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah, King Fahd International Airport in Dammam, Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz International Airport in Tabuk, AlUla International Airport, and Turaif Airport were among the top performers in May. Airports were divided into five categories based on passenger volume.

GACA's May Airport Punctuality Report Released

In the first category, which includes international airports with over 15 million passengers annually, King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah led with an 89% on-time performance rate. For airports handling between 5 to 15 million passengers annually, King Fahd International Airport in Dammam ranked first with an 88% punctuality rate.

Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz International Airport in Tabuk topped the third category for airports managing between 2 to 5 million passengers annually, achieving a 91% on-time rate. AlUla International Airport led the fourth category for airports with fewer than 2 million passengers, boasting a 96% punctuality rate.

Turaif Airport excelled in the fifth category for domestic airports with a remarkable 97% on-time performance rate. The report also highlighted key routes: domestically, the Jizan–Jeddah and Jeddah–Abha routes achieved a punctuality rate of 95%. The Jeddah–Abu Dhabi route ranked first internationally with a 97% on-time performance rate.

At the airline level, Saudia recorded a 90% on-time rate for both arrivals and departures. Flynas achieved an on-time performance of 89% for arrivals and 91% for departures. Flyadeal recorded rates of 90% for arrivals and an impressive 92% for departures.

The National Aviation Strategy aims to position Saudi Arabia as a leading regional aviation hub by enhancing operational standards and improving efficiency. These efforts align with objectives to raise service quality provided to travellers.
