GACA Releases May 2025 Performance Rankings For Saudi Airports Based On Operational Standards

The General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) released its monthly performance report for May 2025, focusing on Saudi Arabia's airports. This evaluation considers 11 operational standards that align with strategic goals to enhance service quality and improve the traveller experience. The report highlights the performance of both international and domestic airports across the Kingdom.

King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh topped the list among international airports handling over 15 million passengers annually. It achieved an 82% compliance rate, surpassing King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah, which also scored 82% but fell short in key performance areas. This ranking reflects GACA's commitment to maintaining high standards in airport operations.

May 2025 GACA Rankings for Saudi Airports

In the category of international airports serving between 5 and 15 million passengers each year, King Fahd International Airport in Dammam secured first place with a compliance rate of 91%. Prince Mohammad bin Abdulaziz International Airport in Madinah followed closely with an 82% compliance rate. These results underscore the effectiveness of operational strategies at these airports.

Abha International Airport excelled among airports accommodating between 2 and 5 million passengers annually. It achieved a perfect compliance score of 100%, particularly excelling in reducing average waiting times for both departing and arriving flights. This achievement highlights Abha's dedication to efficient passenger processing.

Arar Airport led the category for airports with fewer than 2 million annual passengers, also achieving a flawless compliance rate of 100%. Its success is attributed to superior management of average waiting times compared to its peers. This demonstrates Arar's commitment to providing a seamless travel experience for its passengers.

Qurayyat Airport emerged as the top domestic airport, achieving a perfect compliance rate of 100%. It excelled in managing procedures for both departing and arriving flights efficiently. This recognition reflects Qurayyat's focus on maintaining high operational standards.

GACA categorises airports based on annual passenger volumes to ensure transparency in performance evaluations. The authority uses key passenger service areas as benchmarks to ensure that travel experiences meet international standards.
