Saudi GACA Delegation Visits BETA Technologies To Advance Air Mobility

The General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) President Abdulaziz bin Abdullah Al-Duailej, accompanied by officials from various Saudi entities, visited BETA Technologies' factory in South Burlington, Vermont. The delegation included representatives from the Ministry of Investment, the Public Investment Fund (PIF), the Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources, and local private-sector companies like NEOM and Saudia Aerospace Engineering Industries (SAEI).

During their tour, the delegation inspected production lines for advanced air mobility technologies at BETA Technologies. They observed the latest infrastructure technologies used by the factory and examined the operation of charging stations. Additionally, they visited research and development centres to learn about carbon-free manufacturing technologies and engines that rely on charging cubes.

GACA Eyes Advanced Air Mobility

BETA Technologies specialises in producing electric aircraft and vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) aircraft. The company’s innovations include VTOL aircraft and fully electric models for both vertical and conventional takeoff and landing (CTOL). These advancements aim to reduce operating costs and carbon emissions significantly.

The visit aligns with Saudi Arabia's commitment to advanced air mobility technologies as outlined in GACA's Advanced Air Mobility Roadmap launched earlier this year. The roadmap emphasises sustainable innovations in civil aviation. The delegation aimed to strengthen cooperation with leading companies in the sector.

Exploring opportunities for exchanging expertise was a key objective of the visit. The delegation sought to pursue the transfer and localisation of advanced aviation technologies while enhancing research, development, and innovation cooperation. This initiative is part of Saudi Arabia's broader efforts to advance its civil aviation sector.

The GACA delegation's visit underscores Saudi Arabia's dedication to fostering partnerships with global leaders in civil aviation. By engaging with companies like BETA Technologies, Saudi Arabia aims to integrate cutting-edge technologies into its aviation industry, promoting sustainability and innovation.

This strategic move is expected to bolster Saudi Arabia's position in the global aviation market. It reflects a proactive approach towards adopting advanced air mobility solutions that align with international standards for environmental sustainability.

Overall, the visit highlights Saudi Arabia's ongoing efforts to modernise its aviation sector through strategic partnerships and technological advancements. By focusing on sustainable practices, the country aims to lead in innovative air mobility solutions.
