GACA President Abdulaziz Bin Abdullah Al-Duailej Outlines Strategy For Kingdom As Leading Logistics Hub By 2030
The President of the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA), Abdulaziz bin Abdullah Al-Duailej, emphasised the Kingdom's ambition to become a leading global logistics hub by 2030. He highlighted this during a panel on air freight's role in enhancing Saudi Arabia's position in the logistics sector. This discussion was part of the Global Logistics Forum in Riyadh, held under King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud's patronage.
Al-Duailej noted that Saudi Arabia's strategic geographical location is a significant advantage. Positioned at the intersection of three continents, it allows for efficient connections to vital markets. Approximately half of the world's population is within a five-hour flight from the Kingdom, facilitating swift and effective air freight operations.

To bolster its air freight capabilities, Saudi Arabia plans to expand its cargo fleet significantly. The current fleet of seven cargo planes will grow to 27 through partnerships with national carriers. This expansion aligns with the broader aviation goals set for 2030, aiming to increase aircraft numbers from 241 to 657.
The planned fleet expansion includes both wide-body and narrow-body aircraft, with expectations to have 187 wide-body and 470 narrow-body planes by 2030. This growth is intended to enhance Saudi Arabia's aviation infrastructure, making it a competitive force globally.
The National Aviation Strategy is central to positioning Saudi Arabia as a top logistics hub. Al-Duailej explained that this strategy leverages the Kingdom's unique location to connect swiftly with key markets worldwide. The focus on air freight is crucial as supply chains face increasing geopolitical pressures.
"The Kingdom seeks to expand its air freight capabilities," Al-Duailej stated, highlighting the importance of this sector in achieving logistical leadership globally. The strategy aims not only at expanding fleet size but also at enhancing overall aviation infrastructure competitiveness.
Saudi Arabia's vision for its aviation sector reflects a commitment to becoming a pivotal player in global logistics by leveraging its strategic advantages and investing in infrastructure development. This approach underscores the Kingdom’s dedication to achieving its ambitious goals by 2030.
