GACA Publishes Comprehensive Airports Performance Report For August 2024 In Saudi Arabia

The General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) has released its August report evaluating the performance of Saudi Arabia's domestic and international airports. This assessment is based on 11 operational standards designed to enhance service quality and ensure a smooth travel experience for passengers. King Khalid International Airport, Prince Mohammed bin Abdulaziz International Airport, Abha International Airport, Al-Ahsa International Airport, and Gurayat Airport received high rankings in this report.

GACA categorises airports by annual passenger numbers to ensure transparency in performance evaluation. King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh topped the list for airports handling over 15 million passengers annually, achieving an 82% compliance rate. King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah followed closely with the same compliance rate.

GACA Releases August 2024 Airport Report

In the category of international airports serving between 5 to 15 million passengers annually, Prince Mohammed bin Abdulaziz International Airport achieved first place with a 91% compliance rate. King Fahad International Airport was next with an 82% compliance rate. For airports handling between 2 to 5 million passengers annually, both Abha International Airport and King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Airport in Jizan reached a perfect compliance rate of 100%. However, Abha outperformed Jizan by exceeding higher targets in specific evaluation criteria.

Al-Ahsa International Airport excelled among airports serving less than 2 million passengers annually, achieving a full compliance rate of 100%. It surpassed competitors in terms of average waiting times for both departing and arriving flights. Gurayat Airport led the domestic airport category with a perfect compliance score, outperforming others regarding average waiting times for flights.

GACA's evaluation focuses on critical passenger touchpoints such as check-in, security checks, passport control, customs procedures, baggage claim processes, and assistance for passengers with reduced mobility (PRM). These metrics are aligned with international best practices to ensure efficient travel experiences for all passengers.

The strategic objectives behind these evaluations aim to improve services across Saudi Arabia's airports. By adhering to these standards, GACA ensures that travellers enjoy seamless journeys through the Kingdom's aviation hubs.

This comprehensive approach not only enhances passenger satisfaction but also aligns with global benchmarks for airport operations. The focus remains on delivering high-quality services while maintaining transparency and accountability in performance assessments.
