Saudi Finance Leadership Engages In G20 Discussions On Global Economic Challenges In Brazil
Minister of Finance Mohammed bin Abdullah Al-Jadaan and Governor of the Saudi Central Bank (SAMA) Ayman bin Mohammed Al-Sayari concluded their participation in the Third G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors Meeting. The event, held under Brazil's presidency, took place on Thursday and Friday in Rio de Janeiro.
During the session on "Global Economic Outlook and Persistent Challenges," Al-Jadaan noted that while there has been a noticeable recovery in the global economy, it still falls short of desired levels. He highlighted the achievements made through long-term economic planning under Saudi Vision 2030. Additionally, he stressed the importance of multilateral cooperation to address global challenges effectively.

In another session focused on "International Tax Cooperation," Al-Jadaan expressed Saudi Arabia's appreciation for efforts supporting the international tax cooperation agenda. He emphasized that coordinated efforts are essential for sustainable finance. He also pointed out that countries should be allowed to implement approaches aligned with their national policies and procedures, including carbon capture technologies.
Climate and Sustainable Development Goals
During discussions on "Facilitating Finance to Achieve Climate and Sustainable Development Goals," Al-Jadaan underscored that achieving these goals requires coordinated efforts. He highlighted the necessity for countries to adopt approaches that align with their national policies, which should include carbon capture technologies.
Development Financing
The session on development financing covered topics such as capital flows, global debt issues, and reforms of multilateral development banks. Al-Jadaan emphasized the importance of addressing debt challenges faced by low-income countries experiencing high debt distress. He reiterated Saudi Arabia's support for enhancing the implementation of the Common Framework for Debt Treatment Initiative.
Side Discussions
On the sidelines of the meeting, Al-Jadaan engaged in discussions with G20 ministers about cooperation and other topics related to Saudi Arabia's presidency of the International Monetary and Financial Committee of the International Monetary Fund. These discussions aimed at strengthening international financial cooperation.
The meeting provided a platform for discussing various pressing global economic issues. It also allowed participants to share insights on how to tackle these challenges through collaborative efforts.
