Future Minerals Pioneers Bootcamp Sees Saudi Innovation Drive For Mining Sector
Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources Bandar Alkhorayef visited the Future Minerals Pioneers bootcamp, where participants submitted final mining innovation projects that will compete for awards at the 5th Edition of the Future Minerals Forum, scheduled from 13 to 15 January, highlighting practical solutions for the sector.
The in-person Future Minerals Pioneers bootcamp is organised by the Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources with the National Industrial Development and Logistics Program. The initiative aims to support innovation in mining, attract talent from Saudi Arabia and abroad, and move promising ideas towards tested, applicable solutions for the industry.

During the visit, Bandar Alkhorayef stressed that innovation is a core pillar in mining development and aligns with Saudi Vision 2030 economic diversification goals. Alkhorayef said that detailed study of global mining trends strengthened a national belief in adopting a new model built on innovation, sustainability, and stronger international engagement.
Alkhorayef explained that current initiatives in the Future Minerals Pioneers bootcamp and related programmes help deepen global cooperation in mining. These efforts include promoting modern technologies, encouraging innovative solutions, and updating regulatory systems, reflecting confidence in Saudi Arabia’s capacity to drive qualitative change and support the future direction of the global mining sector.
He affirmed that the Future Minerals Pioneers Competition forms a strategic element for the future of minerals at national and international levels. The competition is designed to link creative concepts with real operational needs, strengthening the Kingdom’s role as a key contributor to long-term improvements in mining activities and mineral value chains.
Across the first two days, the Future Minerals Pioneers bootcamp hosted more than 12 workshops, with around 30 mentors from expert partner organisations guiding teams. These sessions covered multiple project stages, from shaping concepts and testing feasibility to preparing implementation plans, ensuring participants received practical support based on specialised technical and sector knowledge.
In parallel with the workshops, the Future Minerals Pioneers bootcamp held thematic seminars featuring international experts. These seminars discussed innovation approaches, solution design, project presentation skills, and expectations for the mining sector’s future, helping participants understand global standards and integrate sustainability, technology adoption, and long-term planning into their final proposals.
Throughout the Future Minerals Pioneers bootcamp, teams worked in a competitive environment that blended mentorship, hands-on work, and knowledge exchange. After completing refinement of their concepts, participants submitted final projects for judging, ahead of the announcement of winners at the Future Minerals Forum, marking a key step in supporting Saudi Vision 2030 mining objectives.
