WGS 2024 Future Education Forum Explores Building Innovative Learning Systems

During the second Future Education Forum (FEF) held on the third day of the World Governments Summit (WGS) 2024, Dr. Ahmad Belhoul Al Falasi, Minister of Education, engaged in a thought-provoking fireside chat with Ahmed El-Ghandour, the founder of Da7ee7 (The Nerd). The forum, organized by the Ministry of Education under the theme "The Future of Education – Education re-imagined", brought together over 50 speakers and 300 education specialists in a series of seven sessions that included high-level meetings, discussions, and workshops.

The conversation between Dr. Al Falasi and El-Ghandour focused on the launch of the Da7ee7 programme, which is celebrated for making science accessible in Arabic. They discussed the critical role of non-traditional educational paths in engaging youth and encouraging them to explore scientific and intellectual fields. The dialogue underscored the necessity of adapting educational models to align with different cultures and societies, highlighting how innovative methods can attract diverse groups to pursue their passions in learning.

Furthermore, the discussion delved into the importance of self-learning in developing learners' personalities and skills, juxtaposing it with formal education. It also examined how external factors such as social status and parental interest influence students' academic journeys. A significant portion of the chat was dedicated to discussing the impact of technological advancements and artificial intelligence (AI) on education systems.

Highlighting a leap towards integrating technology in education, Dr. Al Falasi previewed a trial version of the Ministry of Education’s AI Tutor application. This application is designed according to the national curriculum to act as a private tutor that aids students in understanding various topics and lessons.

The FEF's focus on reimagining education through innovative methods and technology underscores a shift towards more personalized and accessible learning experiences. The inclusion of AI and non-traditional educational paths presents a future where education is tailored to individual needs and cultural contexts, promising a more inclusive and effective learning environment for students across the globe.
