Future Cooperation Between Chinese And Arab Think Tanks Explored At TRENDS Symposium In Abu Dhabi
TRENDS Research and Advisory, alongside the Institute of Party History and Literature of the Chinese Communist Party and Bayt Alhekma Culture Group, organised a symposium titled "Future Cooperation between Chinese and Arab Think Tanks in the New Era." Held at TRENDS’ headquarters in Abu Dhabi, the event aimed to enhance research partnerships and strategic cooperation between China and Arab nations.
The symposium was attended by a high-level Chinese delegation led by Sun Dongsheng, Deputy Chairman of the Institute of Party History and Literature of the Chinese Communist Party. Zhang Yiming, China's Ambassador to the UAE, along with various researchers and experts from both regions, also participated. The event underscored the importance of intellectual and cultural collaboration to improve mutual understanding.

Dr. Mohammed Abdullah Al-Ali, CEO of TRENDS, highlighted the necessity of cooperation among think tanks. He mentioned that since its inception, TRENDS has been working to deepen these connections globally, including with China. Dr. Al-Ali noted TRENDS' success in organising significant events like the First TRENDS BRICS Think Tanks Summit in Moscow.
This summit explored how research and media institutions could aid in policy development and enhance BRICS nations' soft power. Dr. Al-Ali stressed that collaboration among think tanks is crucial due to rising global challenges. He believes think tanks can exchange ideas to create comprehensive strategies for addressing these issues.
Sun Dongsheng emphasised the need for stronger ties between China and Arab countries to achieve shared modernisation goals. He spoke about building a "community of shared destiny," highlighting how cooperation can lead to mutual benefits for both regions.
The symposium focused on creating research platforms between China and Arab countries. These platforms aim to develop solutions for common future challenges through enhanced intellectual and cultural cooperation.
The event concluded with a commitment from all parties involved to continue fostering these vital partnerships. By doing so, they hope to address shared challenges effectively through collaborative efforts in research and strategy development.
