Fujairah Crown Prince Opens Media Forum, Honours Arabic Press Icons
H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, the Crown Prince of Fujairah, recently highlighted the significant role of media in societal development and individual awareness. During the opening of the Fujairah Media Forum 2024, themed "Parallel Media", he underscored the Fujairah government's commitment, under the directives of H.H. Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Fujairah, to evolve the media sector. This initiative aims to align with global changes across various levels.
The event saw the presence of notable figures such as Sheikh Dr. Rashid bin Hamad Al-Sharqi, Chairman of the Fujairah Authority for Culture and Information, and Saeed AlEter, Chairman of the UAE Government Media Office. It brought together a diverse group of Arab media professionals, publishers, and enthusiasts keen on modern media challenges.
Mohammed Saeed Al Dhanhani, Director of the Fujairah Emiri Diwan and Chairman of the Higher Committee of the Forum, conveyed that the forum's revival was made possible through the Ruler of Fujairah's directives and the Crown Prince's keen interest in media advancements for societal and national benefit. The forum delves into critical topics surrounding culture, education, and media under its "Parallel Media" theme.
Al Dhanhani posed a vital question on how to leverage technology without compromising core objectives. He stressed the importance of traditional media in tackling significant issues and avoiding distractions from its primary goals. The emphasis was on collective efforts to preserve cultural identity and convey accurate messages through technology, highlighting media's pivotal role in shaping future generations.
The Crown Prince honoured several esteemed Arabic newspapers for their contributions to journalism. Among those recognized were Maged Monir, Editor-in-Chief of Egypt's Al-Ahram; Hamad Al Kaabi, Editor-in-Chief of UAE's Al-Ittihad; and Ibrahim al Mulaifi, Editor-in-Chief of Al Arabi magazine. A short film titled "A World of Magic" was showcased during the ceremony, illustrating the evolution of media globally, technological advancements in recent years, and their influence on traditional media platforms.
The event was attended by Dr. Ahmed Hamdan Al Zeyoudi, Director of the Office of H.H. Crown Prince of Fujairah, alongside a wide array of media professionals. It served as a platform to explore the dynamic landscape of modern media and its implications for traditional forms while fostering a dialogue on maintaining media integrity amidst technological shifts.
