Fujairah Crown Prince Highlights Mining Sector's Role In Sustainable Economic Growth At Forum
H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of Fujairah, emphasised the mining sector's crucial role in the emirate. He noted its contribution to sustainable economic growth in the UAE and its enhancement of the nation's leadership in this essential industry. His remarks were made during the ninth Fujairah International Mining Forum, held under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Fujairah.
The forum is organised by the Fujairah Natural Resources Corporation alongside the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure. The event's theme is "Mining Investment... Sustainable Development." Attendees included Sheikh Engineer Mohammed bin Hamad bin Saif Al Sharqi, Director-General of Fujairah e-Government Department; Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad bin Saif Al Sharqi, President of the UAE Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation; and Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri, Minister of Economy.
The Crown Prince highlighted Fujairah's commitment to mining industries and sustainable projects. This focus aligns with directives from H.H. Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi to develop mining sectors and explore global sustainable investment opportunities. The government aims to enhance mineral resources through these initiatives.
Mohamed Saif Al Afkham, Chairman of Fujairah Natural Resources Corporation Board of Directors, also addressed attendees. He was joined by Saif Ghobash, Assistant Under-Secretary for Oil, Gas and Mineral Resources at the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, and Adel Saqr from the Arab Industrial Development, Standardisation and Mining Organisation.
During the opening ceremony, H.H. Sheikh Mohammed honoured winners of the Fujairah Award for Best Mining Practices along with event partners. The conference will cover various topics such as mining strategies, investment opportunities, energy transition minerals, added value in supply chains, innovation in digital transformation (AI, data automation), and geological heritage protection.
The discussions aim to provide insights into mining strategies that can drive future growth. They will explore how digital transformation can be leveraged within the sector through AI and data automation technologies.
The forum serves as a platform for discussing incentives that could attract more investments into mining. It also looks at how energy transition minerals can play a part in sustainable development efforts across different regions.
The event underscores Fujairah's dedication to advancing its mining sector while ensuring sustainability remains at its core. By focusing on innovation and collaboration with international partners, it seeks to maintain its leading position in this vital industry.
