The Fujairah Children's Book Fair, held under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of Fujairah, concluded on 19th October. Organised by the Higher Committee of Fujairah Children's Book Fair and Fujairah Culture and Media Authority, the event took place at Al Bayt Mitwahid Hall. The fair began on 13th October and featured a rich cultural programme.
Over seven days, the fair attracted 10,000 visitors, including students, families, and literature enthusiasts. The event catered to younger audiences with a strong interest in children's literature. It offered more than 87 activities such as panel discussions, literary events, and workshops. These were hosted on the main stage and at participating publishers' booths.
The fair's agenda included interactive workshops in both Arabic and English. These sessions covered topics like art, philosophy, story creation, drawing, and book readings. They aimed to engage children in creative thinking and scientific imagination. Themes like fantasy's role in reading were also explored.
Workshops addressed important themes such as 'UAE Sana'a' and majlis protocols. They also focused on creating a positive community influence and using tactile books for people of determination. Sessions included origami book creation that captivated children who shared ideas during hands-on activities.
The event featured notable authors and influential figures contributing to its cultural programmes. Nasser Al Yamahi, Executive Director of Fujairah Culture and Media Authority, stated: "The inaugural edition was unique and yielded outstanding results." He thanked H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad Al Sharqi for his support.

He highlighted the emirate's commitment to fostering reading culture among children through this event. The fair provided value by promoting reading and supporting young creative minds.
Future Prospects
The fair launched the Upcoming Author competition during its inauguration day. This competition honoured talented young writers with book signings at publisher stands in Arabic and English. The event served as a platform for young readers to meet authors and publishers.
Al Yamahi noted that the fair aligns with Fujairah's cultural role by strengthening efforts to promote reading. He mentioned plans for future editions to expand exhibition space and enhance services for exhibitors while accommodating more publishers.
Themed 'Create the Future with Imagination,' the fair featured four zones: Imagination, Adventure, Creativity, and Future. These zones promoted learning skills among children through exploration activities aligned with the theme.
