Friends Of Cancer Patients Concludes Pink October 2025 Campaign With Record Engagement And Screenings

The Friends of Cancer Patients (FOCP) has wrapped up its 2025 Pink October campaign, marking a record level of public and institutional involvement. The Pink Caravan, a key initiative, provided 19,527 free breast cancer screenings across the UAE through both fixed and mobile clinics. This effort underscores the UAE's dedication to early detection and community health.

Throughout October, the Pink Caravan operated 11 fixed clinics and several mobile units in over 80 locations nationwide. Fixed clinics were strategically placed in high-traffic areas like Al Majaz Waterfront in Sharjah and Mushrif Mall in Abu Dhabi. Mobile units featured advanced 3D mammography technology, while mini mobile clinics offered clinical breast exams.

The campaign, themed "A Community Through Her," included a variety of educational and engagement activities. These encompassed Corporate Wellness Days, awareness sessions both online and in-person, and workshops on breast self-examination. Informational materials distributed at these events highlighted the importance of early detection for better treatment outcomes.

From October 10 to 12, the Pink Caravan hosted its second community event at Aljada in Sharjah. This event drew over 8,500 visitors and provided 1,135 free breast cancer screenings. The three-day event featured awareness workshops, creative activities, roaming performances, and family-oriented programming under the theme "A Community Through Her."

More than 20 public and private organisations supported the campaign. Partners included Irthi Contemporary Crafts Council, Siella Beauty, SANED, and the Sharjah Volunteering Centre. Healthcare partners ensured adherence to international standards with support from Advanced Care Oncology Centre and Emirates Hospital Group.

The Pink Caravan also participated in the Battle Cancer fitness challenge at The Sevens Stadium in Dubai. Here, their mobile clinic offered on-site breast cancer screenings. Proceeds from this event supported the FOCP x Battle Cancer 2025 campaign via YallaGive.

Volunteer Contributions

Volunteers played an essential role in the campaign's success. Participants included survivors, influencers, healthcare professionals, and students. FOCP emphasised that combating cancer is a collective responsibility requiring unity across all societal sectors.

The campaign welcomed 111 individuals comprising 22 doctors, 12 nurses, two mammogram imaging specialists, 28 administrative team members, and 47 volunteers. Their combined efforts significantly contributed to achieving the campaign's objectives.

Leadership Remarks

Aisha Al Mulla, Director of FOCP stated: "Under the patronage and directives of H.H. Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi... we have achieved significant milestones that strengthen Sharjah’s role as a model of humanitarian initiatives." She further noted FOCP's commitment to raising awareness about breast cancer screening for better treatment outcomes.

The Pink Caravan’s online Pink Shop offered merchandise throughout the year to support cancer patients financially. All proceeds from sales were directed towards assisting patients and their families.

This year's Pink October campaign demonstrated remarkable engagement levels through comprehensive screenings and educational initiatives across the UAE. The collaborative efforts of various organisations ensured adherence to international medical standards while promoting community health awareness effectively.
