French President Meets Arab Ministers For Gaza Ceasefire Talks

Paris, May 25, SPA – The President of the French Republic, Emmanuel Macron, received members of the ministerial committee assigned by the Joint Arab-Islamic Extraordinary Summit on Friday. The meeting was chaired by His Highness Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Saudi Arabia. Also present were Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar; Ayman Al-Safadi, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of Jordan; and Sameh Shoukry, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Egypt.

The discussions focused on the dangerous developments in the Gaza Strip due to ongoing Israeli aggression. The committee members and President Macron emphasized the need for an immediate and complete ceasefire to ensure civilian protection and the delivery of adequate and sustainable humanitarian aid throughout the Strip.

The ministerial committee stressed the importance of establishing an independent, sovereign Palestinian State based on the borders of 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital. They highlighted the need for international recognition of the Palestinian State, especially by permanent members of the Security Council, to help Palestinians achieve their legitimate rights and a comprehensive and just peace.

Accountability for Violations

The committee urged the international community to hold the Israeli occupation accountable for violations of international law and humanitarian law. They expressed complete rejection of Israeli control over the Palestinian side of the Rafah crossing and its prevention of urgent humanitarian aid from entering the Strip.

The meeting concluded with a unified call for intensified efforts to address these critical issues and support a peaceful resolution in the region.
