Fourth Otaiqah Dates Season Launches In Riyadh, Showcasing Saudi Date Industry's Global Impact
The fourth Otaiqah Dates Season has commenced, showcasing Saudi Arabia's prominence in the date industry. Saudi dates reach over 113 countries, contributing around 12% to the national agricultural GDP. This event is hosted at the Agricultural Seasons Hall in Riyadh’s Otaiqah Central Market and is organised by Riyadh Development Company with support from various governmental bodies.
Spanning four months, this event aligns with the date harvesting season and stands as the Kingdom's longest-running seasonal date market. It brings together produce from all over Saudi Arabia, serving as a hub for traders, farmers, and consumers. The initiative highlights institutional collaboration in bolstering the date sector as an economic and developmental force.

A dedicated children's area enhances family experiences with educational and entertainment activities like palm planting, colouring workshops, cooking sessions, and interactive heritage plays. This space aims to enrich visitors' experiences by offering diverse activities that engage both children and adults alike.
The Otaiqah Dates Season occupies an area exceeding 10,000 square metres, including a 2,500 square metre air-conditioned hall. This setup accommodates more than 65 traders and farmers who display their products through retail stalls. The venue also features food trucks offering traditional Saudi dishes, adding to the festive atmosphere.
The event exemplifies strong institutional collaboration aimed at supporting the date sector. By positioning it as a key economic driver, the initiative seeks to enhance its developmental impact within the Kingdom. The involvement of entities like the Culinary Arts Commission and Saudi Tourism Authority further underscores its significance.
Local families engaged in cottage industries actively participate in this season, contributing to a community-driven environment. Various entertainment shows are also part of the event, ensuring a lively atmosphere for all attendees. This blend of commerce and culture makes it a unique experience for visitors.
The Riyadh Municipality acts as an enabling partner for this initiative. Their support ensures that the event runs smoothly while promoting Riyadh as a central hub for cultural and economic activities related to dates.
This year's edition continues to highlight Saudi Arabia's leading role in global date production while fostering local economic growth through strategic partnerships and community involvement.
