H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Dr. Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, India's External Affairs Minister, co-chaired the Fourth India-UAE Strategic Dialogue in New Delhi. H.H. Sheikh Abdullah expressed gratitude to Dr. Jaishankar and Indian representatives, highlighting the ongoing efforts to strengthen the UAE-India Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
He acknowledged Dr. Jaishankar's dedication over the past decade in enhancing cooperation between the two nations. "Your Excellency, I would like to express my sincere gratitude for your consistent dedication and efforts over the past decade in strengthening the partnership and cooperation between our nations," he stated.
The dialogue underscored the importance of bilateral trade, which has reached new heights due to the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA). This agreement has significantly reduced barriers, fostering stronger trade, investment, and collaboration across key sectors.
H.H. Sheikh Abdullah highlighted recent high-level visits that have further solidified bilateral cooperation. These visits underscore the importance of open dialogue and meaningful engagement at the highest levels.
The UAE Top Diplomat emphasised advancements in renewable energy, food security, and critical minerals as areas of mutual growth commitment. The focus on nuclear energy reflects a shared vision for a low-carbon future, ensuring a reliable and sustainable energy transition.
He also mentioned a new polar research initiative aimed at addressing global challenges like resource management and climate change. This initiative exemplifies joint efforts to unlock promising opportunities through technological innovation.
Connectivity and Innovation
The air transport link between the two countries is vital, with hundreds of weekly flights connecting them. This robust connectivity supports tourism and trade while strengthening broader bilateral ties.
Sheikh Abdullah stressed that advanced sciences, research, AI, and supercomputing are priorities for both nations. These fields drive modern solutions and fuel innovation in unconventional ways.
Tackling Extremism
The UAE Top Diplomat highlighted tackling extremism as crucial for maintaining a peaceful society. "Extremist ideologies thrive on division, fear, and misunderstanding," he noted.
Promoting tolerance and mutual respect for diverse cultures can create a society where differences are celebrated rather than feared.
Trilateral Initiatives
The final area of potential collaboration is trilateral initiatives with third countries across Africa, Asia-Pacific, South America, and other regions. These initiatives offer opportunities to bring together ideas, expertise, and resources for impactful solutions worldwide.
"This meeting is a testament to our commitment—not only to address the challenges before us but also to seize the opportunities that lie ahead," said Sheikh Abdullah confidently about future collaborations.
The UAE delegation included Reem Al Hashemi; Ahmed Ali Al Sayegh; Lana Zaki Nusseibeh; Saeed Mubarak Al Hajri; Omran Sharaf; Abdulla Balalaa; and Dr. Abdul Nasser Al Shaali.
