Fourth Future Minerals Forum Commences In Riyadh Under Custodian Of The Two Holy Mosques' Patronage

The Future Minerals Forum commenced in Riyadh under the auspices of King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud. This fourth edition sees participation from over 90 countries, including 16 G20 nations and 50 international organizations. The event aims to enhance global cooperation in producing essential minerals for energy transition, positioning mining as a driver of economic growth.

The forum's Fourth Ministerial Roundtable focused on three main initiatives: a Strategic Framework for Critical Minerals, Sustainability, and Centers of Excellence. These initiatives aim to develop a collaborative framework across Africa, West, and Central Asia, promote responsible supply priorities, and establish a network to drive investments and innovation.

Future Minerals Forum Begins in Riyadh

The roundtable was attended by prominent figures such as Dr. Gilberto Pichetto Fratin from Italy, Jonathan Reynolds from the UK, Alexandre Silveira from Brazil, G. Kishan Reddy from India, Kizito Pakapomba Kapinga from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Eng. Karim Badawi from Egypt, Henry Dele Alake from Nigeria, and Leila Benali from Morocco.

A significant aspect of the forum is the inaugural Centers of Excellence and Technology meeting. This gathering includes senior representatives from industry sectors like academia and technology to create a regional hub for capacity building and innovation in mining technologies. This initiative aims to accelerate technological advancements within the Super Region.

Another key meeting involves leaders from International Geological Survey organizations. Participants include geological survey bodies from Africa and Asia alongside global institutions like the US Geological Survey and British Geological Survey. Discussions will focus on enhancing geological surveying capabilities to boost exploration and investment.

Forum Highlights and Participation

Held between January 14 and 16, this year's forum features 250 speakers comprising CEOs of leading mining companies and financial institutions. Approximately 15,000 participants are expected to attend various sessions throughout the event. The forum serves as a platform for discussing sustainable development strategies in mining.
