Foreign Minister Prince Faisal Discusses Climate Change And Health At BRICS 2025 Summit In Brazil

Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, representing Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, participated in the BRICS Summit 2025 in Rio de Janeiro. Saudi Arabia attended as an invited nation to join the BRICS group. The session focused on the environment, COP30, and global health. Prince Faisal expressed gratitude to Brazil for hosting and praised its leadership as the group's president this year.

He highlighted Saudi Arabia's commitment to multilateral cooperation for shared development opportunities. Emphasising climate and health collaboration, he reaffirmed the Kingdom’s dedication to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change and the Paris Agreement. He advocated for a balanced approach that respects different countries' circumstances.

Prince Faisal Addresses BRICS Summit on Health

Prince Faisal congratulated Brazil on hosting COP30, wishing success in addressing climate challenges. He noted Saudi Arabia's advancements in managing environmental and water resource issues due to its water scarcity challenges. The Kingdom has pioneered technologies and established the Global Water Organization to ensure fair access to water resources.

In health matters, Prince Faisal discussed Saudi Vision 2030's reforms focusing on prevention and integrated care. He highlighted Saudi Arabia's expertise in managing large gatherings like Hajj and Umrah, developing planning systems, and reinforcing its role as a regional hub for health emergency preparedness according to international standards.

The Prince emphasised that global crises highlight shared responsibilities and the need to prevent conflict escalation. Addressing Gaza's situation, he condemned Israeli attacks on health infrastructure and civilians as violations of international humanitarian law. He urged the international community to ensure humanitarian aid delivery and civilian protection.

Prince Faisal stressed that Gaza's humanitarian suffering must not be ignored. He called for serious efforts towards a lasting peace based on a two-state solution under international law. The session included notable attendees such as Dr. Faisal Ghulam, Waleed Al-Ismail, Mohammed Alyahya, and Shahir Al-Khenini.
