Food Innovation Conference 2024 Kicks Off In Dubai With 150 Global Experts
The Food Innovation Conference 2024, a pivotal gathering under the theme ‘Reimagining Future Food Systems’, commenced today in Dubai. This event, a collaborative effort between Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives (MBRGI) and the World Economic Forum (WEF), spans three days and aims to foster innovative solutions for food sustainability. It has attracted over 150 experts, academics, innovators, and representatives from both public and private sectors worldwide.
The conference's agenda is ambitious, focusing on expanding agricultural and food systems innovation, accelerating knowledge exchange, and deepening collaboration across various sectors. This aligns with the broader goal of transforming food systems to be more resilient, inclusive, and sustainable. The partnership between MBRGI and WEF, which previously led to the establishment of the Food Innovation Hubs Global Initiative and the Food Innovation Hub UAE in December last year, is further extended through this conference.
At the opening ceremony, attended by notable figures including Her Excellency Dr. Amna Al Dahak, Saeed Al Eter, Tania Strauss from WEF, and WFP Chef Advocate Asma Khan, the emphasis was on the critical role of Artificial Intelligence and Fourth Industrial Revolution applications in achieving food security. Dr. Al Dahak highlighted the UAE's commitment to international efforts in tackling food security challenges and its keenness to foster cooperation for innovative food solutions.
The conference serves as a platform for sharing insights on leveraging technology and innovation in food production to support communities worldwide. Tania Strauss of WEF underscored the initiative's aim to secure a positive food future through technology and innovation that transcends borders. Asma Khan of WFP echoed this sentiment, stressing the collective responsibility towards the planet's well-being.
Participants were introduced to organic and environmentally friendly food products, innovative food production concepts, local ingredients, and low-waste foods on the first day. The forthcoming sessions promise engaging discussions on emerging technologies' role in transforming food systems and advancing global frontier innovations.
This event not only showcases the UAE's forward-thinking approach to global challenges but also reinforces its position as a hub for innovation and international collaboration in addressing critical issues like food security. The Food Innovation Conference 2024 stands as a testament to the power of collective action in reimagining future food systems for a more sustainable and secure world.
