Join FOCP's 'Their Journey Continues With You' Campaign To Support Cancer Patients

The Friends of Cancer Patients (FOCP) has launched its annual Zakat initiative, inviting individuals and institutions to support financially burdened cancer patients during Ramadan. Under the theme "Their Journey Continues with You", the campaign aims to foster a collective effort in the fight against cancer, providing relief to affected patients and their families. This year, the initiative is leveraging social media to share the courageous stories of cancer patients, spreading messages of resilience and hope to a wider audience.

FOCP encourages the public to actively participate in the campaign by making generous donations. Contributions can be made through their official website, via bank transfers to the Sharjah Islamic Bank, or by sending an SMS to designated Etisalat numbers. The campaign is built on three foundational pillars: alleviating the psychological fear associated with cancer, dispelling myths about the disease, and emphasizing the significant impact of Zakat donations.

Aisha Abdulla Al Mulla, Director of FOCP, emphasized the campaign's alignment with the organization's goal of mobilizing community support against cancer. She highlighted the importance of early detection in reducing suffering and saving lives. Al Mulla also praised the Emirati community's commitment to utilizing its values and cultural heritage in supporting those fighting cancer.

"This year, our ambition is not just to meet but to exceed the milestones set in 2023 in terms of donations and patient support," Al Mulla stated. She credited the strength and dedication of the UAE community—comprising individuals, institutions, citizens, and residents—as pivotal to the success of FOCP's programs and initiatives.

In 2023, the Zakat Campaign successfully raised over AED5.1 million, aiding approximately 100 patients. Additionally, around 300 food boxes were distributed to low-income families of cancer patients. These boxes contained food parcels and essential items, reflecting FOCP’s vision of promoting values of solidarity and cooperation within the Emirati community.

The initiative not only aims at financial assistance but also at increasing awareness about cancer and its early detection. By contributing to this cause, donors can play a significant role in supporting cancer patients and their families during a challenging period, embodying the spirit of giving that Ramadan represents.
