Flydubai Signs Memorandum Of Understanding For 75 Boeing 737 MAX Aircraft Orders
Boeing and flydubai have announced a new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the airline's fourth purchase of the 737 MAX. This agreement includes 75 orders and 75 options, aiming to modernise flydubai's fleet and support its network expansion. The Dubai-based airline has expanded its reach to over 135 destinations, including new routes like Lasi, Nairobi, and Riga.
The new deal allows flydubai to utilise the flexibility and commonality of the 737 MAX family. The airline will leverage the unique size and range of the 737-8, 737-9, and 737-10 models to suit its expanding business needs. This strategic move is part of flydubai's proactive fleet planning to meet rising travel demands.

H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of flydubai, stated, "We are pleased to announce a new aircraft order agreement with Boeing. Looking ahead, proactive fleet planning is essential to ensuring we are well-placed to meet the rising demand for travel, a demand we are confident will continue to grow. Anticipating future needs is a defining factor in the success of any airline and today’s announcement reflects our commitment to that principle."
flydubai currently operates 96 Boeing 737 airplanes. The new agreement will add to existing orders from previous purchases once finalised. This ensures that flydubai remains well-positioned for future growth by adding new aircraft and replacing older ones.
H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum also expressed gratitude towards their team for their dedication and hard work. He highlighted Dubai's ambitious vision for the future as a source of optimism and enthusiasm for upcoming developments, including playing a key role in Dubai World Central’s expansion plans.
Boeing's Role in flydubai's Success
Stephanie Pope, President and CEO of Boeing Commercial Airplanes, commented on the partnership: "flydubai is one of the world’s first 737 MAX operators and their plan to place yet another order – their fourth order to date – reflects the 737 MAX’s market-leading value and versatility. We are proud that Boeing airplanes will continue to serve as the backbone of flydubai’s strategic fleet and growth plans."
The reliability of aircraft availability and timely deliveries is crucial for industry growth. This agreement with Boeing ensures that flydubai remains well-equipped for future expansion while maintaining its current scale.
