flydubai Breaks Ground On New Aircraft Maintenance Centre In Dubai South
flydubai has initiated the construction of its new Aircraft Maintenance Centre at Dubai South. This multimillion-dollar project, expected to be completed by late 2026, aims to enhance maintenance efficiency and control for the airline's expanding fleet. The facility will cover 32,600 square metres and include an aircraft hangar, workshops, and office spaces.
The development of this centre highlights flydubai's commitment to boosting its internal capabilities as it grows its fleet and network. Khalifa Al Zaffin, Executive Chairman of Dubai Aviation City Corporation and Dubai South, led a senior delegation at the groundbreaking event. He was joined by Ghaith Al Ghaith, CEO of flydubai, and representatives from the Mohammed bin Rashid Aerospace Hub (MBRAH).

Al Zaffin remarked on the significance of the facility: "This facility reinforces our commitment to supporting the aviation sector through state-of-the-art infrastructure and to further positioning Dubai as a leading global hub for aviation." His statement underscores Dubai's ambition to remain at the forefront of global aviation.
Situated near Al Maktoum International Airport (DWC), which is set to become the largest airport globally upon completion, the maintenance centre benefits from an ideal location within Dubai South. This district offers a comprehensive aviation and logistics ecosystem that supports flydubai’s operational needs.
Ghaith Al Ghaith emphasised the strategic importance of this development: "This is a strategic step towards supporting our growing maintenance requirement and capacity as we take delivery of more aircraft, and reaffirms our long-term commitment to innovation, operational efficiency and supporting Dubai’s position as a global leader in aviation and business excellence."
Enhancing Operational Capacity
The agreement with MBRAH for this purpose-built facility was signed during the 2023 Dubai Airshow. The centre will accommodate over 600 skilled engineers specialising in Line Maintenance, Technical Services, Materials, and Workshops. These professionals are responsible for ensuring the safety and airworthiness of flydubai’s fleet.
By establishing this advanced maintenance centre, flydubai aims to achieve quicker turnaround times for aircraft servicing. This move not only supports their operational growth but also aligns with their dedication to maintaining high standards in aviation safety and efficiency.
The new facility represents a significant investment in infrastructure that will support flydubai's long-term goals. As the airline continues to expand its reach, having such a dedicated maintenance hub will be crucial in sustaining its operations efficiently.
