Fly Vaayu Achieves Air Operator Certificate From GCAA To Launch Cargo Services

Fly Vaayu, a cargo airline based in Ras Al Khaimah and part of the Vaayu Group, has been granted its Air Operator Certificate (AOC) by the General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA). This significant milestone was marked by Sheikh Salem bin Sultan Al Qassimi, Chairman of the Ras Al Khaimah Department of Civil Aviation (DCA), who officially presented the certificate to Fly Vaayu's senior officials during a ceremony at RAK DCA.

Sheikh Salem bin Sultan Al Qassimi expressed pride in having Fly Vaayu operate from Ras Al Khaimah International Airport. He stated, "It’s a real honour for the emirate of Ras Al Khaimah to have a commercial air transport operator such as Fly Vaayu to be based in Ras Al Khaimah International Airport (RKT) and provide seamless cargo services to customers. It is our goal and performance indicator to support the economic development of Ras Al Khaimah through such strategic initiatives."

Fly Vaayu aims to transform Ras Al Khaimah into a key regional cargo hub. The airline plans to offer its services to forwarders, importers, exporters, transhippers, e-commerce businesses, last-mile providers, and charterers. Its operations will cover routes across Asia, Africa, Europe, and the Middle East.

First Aircraft Delivery

On 7th October 2024, Fly Vaayu received its first A320-200P2F aircraft at RKT. This aircraft is notable for being the first A320 freighter registered in the Middle East. It also marks the first A320P2F conversion completed at ST Aerospace's Guangzhou facility. Sheikh Salem bin Sultan Al Qassimi welcomed this aircraft after it completed a record-breaking ferry flight from Guangzhou to RKT.

With these developments, Fly Vaayu is set to enhance its operational capabilities significantly. The airline's strategic positioning in Ras Al Khaimah is expected to contribute positively to the region's economic landscape by facilitating efficient cargo transport services.
