Jeddah Historic District Unveils Its First Three Heritage Hotels
The Jeddah Historic District Program, under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture and Al Balad Development Company—a subsidiary of the Public Investment Fund (PIF)—recently celebrated the grand opening of the first trio of heritage hotels in the Jeddah Historic District. This initiative marks a significant milestone in the preservation and rehabilitation efforts of historical sites, adhering to the highest international standards and UNESCO guidelines. The Jeddah Historic District was designated as a World Heritage Site in 2014, underscoring its global cultural significance.
The unveiling of Beit Jokhdar, Beit Al-Rayess, and Beit Kedwan as heritage hotels is part of a broader strategy to restore 34 heritage buildings within the district. These establishments have been meticulously renovated to merge traditional architectural elements with modern amenities, aiming to showcase and preserve Saudi Arabia's rich cultural legacy. Each hotel offers a unique glimpse into the historical and architectural diversity of the area.

Beit Jokhdar stands out with its elaborately adorned wooden balconies, which are among the largest in the region, offering a unique aesthetic appeal. Meanwhile, Beit Al-Rayess captivates visitors with its interior design that features rooms overlooking a picturesque courtyard, encircled by columns and stone arches. Lastly, Beit Kedwan's prime location near Naseef Square in the Al-Alawi Market adds to its allure, making it a focal point for visitors interested in exploring the local culture and market scene.
Al Balad Development Company will entrust the operation of these hotels to Albalad Hospitality, its operational arm dedicated to delivering authentic hospitality experiences. The aim is to immerse guests in the deep-rooted culture of the region while ensuring the preservation of its heritage. These hotels are expected to become a preferred destination for visitors from around the globe, offering a blend of warmth, culture, and history.
The initiative not only contributes to the conservation of Saudi Arabia's heritage but also promotes Jeddah Historic District as a vibrant cultural and tourist destination. With such developments, the district is poised to attract more visitors, eager to experience its unique heritage and architectural marvels firsthand.
As reported by SPA at 19:04 local time (16:04 GMT), this project underscores a significant effort towards cultural preservation while fostering tourism and hospitality in Saudi Arabia. The successful restoration and opening of these heritage hotels serve as a testament to the Kingdom's commitment to safeguarding its historical sites for future generations.
