Film Commission Engages In 11th Saudi Film Festival To Enhance National Film Industry

The Film Commission has taken part in the 11th Saudi Film Festival, held from April 17 to 23. This participation is part of its mission to strengthen the film industry in Saudi Arabia. Organised by the Cinema Association with support from the King Abdulaziz Center for World Culture (Ithra), the festival is backed by the Film Commission.

Since its start in 2008, initiated by the Saudi Arabian Society for Culture and Arts in Dammam, the Saudi Film Festival has been a key local event. It aims to boost the film industry, enhance cultural activities, and celebrate exceptional Saudi films. The festival also highlights local talent and encourages cinematic excellence.

The commission's pavilion at the Production Market showcases its initiatives and programs to visitors. A delegation from the commission is actively involved in various events, including a panel discussion on "Film Funding Commissions." Additionally, specialised workshops are conducted to help local filmmakers improve their skills.

This year's festival features both feature-length and short narrative films supported by the commission. These films benefit from programs like the Cash Rebate Incentive Program and Daw’ Film, which aim to encourage filmmaking within Saudi Arabia.
